Reasons to choose an auto technician career

Many boys, while growing up, are passionate about cars, albeit it is the driving that appeal to them more than the technical side of constructing or repairing a car. However, this passion for cars can easily turn into a career, even if it’s not the career you’ve dreamt of as a child. The truth is that there is a high offer of auto technicians jobs at the moment, as the industry is registering an ascending path, but there is not such a developed pool of qualified workers in the field. In fact, this may be one of the reasons why you should consider such a career, as you will probably encounter no difficulty in finding a job and no fierce competition of 100 applicants for the same role as it happens in some other fields. However, this is definitely not the only reason for which becoming an auto technician is appealing to many.

Some of the most important pros of auto technicians jobs include great career advancement opportunities, which obviously involve pay increase opportunities as well. Just as an example, the average annual income for such a job is somewhere around £26, 000, but senior technicians with years of experience in the field or managers can earn up to £41, 000. The pay also depends on location, as there are some areas and cities where companies pay more, so if you are willing to relocate, you are facing great pay opportunities. Another reason for which some people are attracted by this career is the fact that it offers high chances of self-employment. After gaining the necessary experience and saving up, many technicians open up their own, independent shops and having their own business and running it is a dream for many. Of course, this type of endeavor comes with great responsibilities and there are always risks involved, but it is an industry where such course of action is very likely.

Some people go after auto technicians jobs because it is a fast track toward success. There are minimal educational requirements, getting certified and qualified does not take long and only a few years of hard work and experience can help you get promoted and climb the ladder of success, as opposed to other industries and fields of employment, where education can take up to 5 years or more, progression also takes 3, 4 or even 5 years and reaching the top can cost you at least 10 years of your life. As appealing as a fast and successful career in the automotive industry may sound, people should also carefully consider what it takes to follow one. This is an industry where Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 schedules are highly unlikely and you’ll probably have to work evenings and weekends quite often. Minor injuries are very common within the field and serious injuries can also occur of safety procedures are not followed. However, there are risks with any job and this is definitely a career that is worth considering.
